Privacy Policy

The short version: NexCam is built so that almost everything happens on your device. We collect no analytics, use no third-party SDKs, and never see your scripts, recordings, or captions. This policy explains the details.
This policy describes how NexCam (“the app”), published by NexCam Teleprompter (“we”, “us”), handles information when you use the app.
What stays on your device
Your scripts, recordings (“takes”), generated captions, and edits are created and stored on your iPhone. The camera and microphone are used only for the live preview and for recording the video you choose to capture — that media is never streamed to us or to any third party.
- Voice Track and caption generation use Apple’s on-device Speech framework with on-device recognition required. Your audio is transcribed locally and is not sent to a server.
- AI script rewriting uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models (on supported devices). Your script text never leaves the phone, and there is no cloud fallback.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, your scripts and your speed & caption presets sync across your devices using Apple’s CloudKit, stored in your own private iCloud database under your Apple ID. We have no access to this data. Video recordings stay on your device by default and are not synced. You can manage or remove this data from iOS Settings → your name → iCloud.
Permissions we request
- Camera — to show the preview and record video.
- Microphone — to record audio and to power Voice Track.
- Speech Recognition — for on-device Voice Track and caption generation.
- Photos (add-only) — only when you choose to save an exported video to your photo library.
Each permission is requested in context, and the app functions in a reduced capacity if you decline.
Diagnostics & support
The app collects no analytics and contains no behavioral tracking. If you tap “Report a Problem” in Settings, the app prepares an email to support@nexcam.app that may include basic device information (device model, iOS version, app version), local recording-health counters, and any on-device MetricKit diagnostic reports. Nothing is transmitted unless you choose to send that email.
Purchases
NexCam is a one-time purchase through the Apple App Store. Apple processes the transaction; we do not receive or store your payment information.
What we do not collect
- No account or sign-in, and no email address unless you contact support.
- No advertising identifiers, no location data, no contacts.
- No behavioral analytics and no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
Data retention & deletion
Your content lives on your device and, for synced items, in your iCloud account. Delete a script or take in the app to remove it locally; deleting the app removes its local data. Manage synced data in iOS iCloud settings. Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to resolve your request.
Children’s privacy
NexCam is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version.
