Prices, quotes and update dates read from the US App Store on 2026-08-28 through Apple's own search and lookup API, not from a review site. NexCam is listed here for comparison; it was not in that 196-result set on the day we ran the search. Apps update their pricing, so check any listing before you buy.
Read the table the way a buyer would. The cheapest paid app, at $3.99, does not record, and its listing says so plainly. Voice Teleprompter PRO is the same $9.99 as NexCam and is honestly sold as a prompter, not a camera. That leaves two apps that both prompt and record without a subscription, at $29.99 and $89.99, and Teleprompter for Business in particular is a real one-time purchase from an established developer that exports 4K. If you want the deepest business feature set and the price is not the issue, buy that one. NexCam is the $9.99 answer to the same question.
The free ones you find first are browsers and desktops, not iPhone apps
Search this question and the top results are usually free web prompters. They are genuinely free and genuinely useful, but they answer a different question, because most of them do not record you.
- CuePrompter is a free browser teleprompter with no signup and no download. It scrolls your script and does not record video. Its own homepage credits Teleprompter.com as the maker, which is the subscription app further down this page.
- cueprompter.io, a separate site with a confusingly similar name, does record in the browser tab, and lists native iPhone and Android apps as "Coming soon" rather than shipped.
- QPrompt is free and open source and very good, but it is desktop software for Windows, macOS and Linux. There is no iOS version.
On the App Store itself, free normally means a subscription is waiting. Read on their pricing pages on 2026-08-28: the Teleprompter.com Starter tier is free and records with a watermark, and removing it starts at Pro.
