Why we built NexCam.
NexCam is an iPhone teleprompter and camera made by a small independent team. It exists because the tools we had kept getting the basics wrong — losing takes, renting features by the month, and shipping our words off to someone else's cloud. So we built the one we wanted.
It started with a lost take
The whole project traces back to one specific, gut-punch moment: a clean take, nailed in one pass, gone the instant the app dropped. Nothing to recover, because the app had been holding the recording in memory and only meant to save it when you tapped stop. That is how a surprising number of recording apps work, and it is a quiet bet against you.
We decided the most important feature of a recording app is the one nobody markets: it should be impossible to lose what you just filmed. Everything else in NexCam grew from that.
Four principles, no compromises
Never lose a take
Every second is written to disk as you record, and an interrupted take is offered for recovery the moment you reopen the app. Treated as flight-critical.
Read down the lens
The script is locked in a band directly beneath the camera, so your eyes stay on your audience instead of drifting to a script propped off to the side.
One honest price
Pay once, own every feature forever. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no account, and never a watermark on what you export.
Private by design
Speech recognition and AI run entirely on your iPhone. No analytics, no tracking, and not a single third-party SDK in the app.
What NexCam is
A focused tool, not a platform. It writes, records, reviews, captions, and exports — for creators, educators, and presenters who talk to a camera. It runs on iPhone (iOS 17 and later), syncs your scripts through your own private iCloud if you want it, and drives from an Apple Watch or a second phone. It does those things well and stops there. Here's the full walkthrough, or see how the one-time model compares.
NexCam is funded the old-fashioned way: people buy it once. That keeps the incentives clean — no reason to nag you, harvest your data, or hold features hostage behind a tier. The only job is to make the thing work. Questions? support@nexcam.app — a real person reads every email.
