the feature we built first

Never lose a take again.

You nailed it. Three minutes, one clean take, no flubs. Then the phone rings, the app drops, and the file is gone. Every creator has lived this. NexCam is the iPhone teleprompter built so it can never happen to you.

Why most apps lose your footage

Here is the uncomfortable truth about a lot of recording apps. While you film, the video is held in memory and only written to a finished file the moment you tap stop. It is fast and simple to build. It also means that anything which interrupts the app before you stop, a crash, an incoming call grabbing the microphone, the battery dying, can take the entire take with it. There is nothing left to recover because nothing was ever saved.

NexCam does the opposite.

How crash-proof recording works

Every second is written to disk as you record. NexCam saves your video in short chunks continuously, in real time, rather than waiting for a stop tap. The footage exists on the device the instant it is filmed.

Interrupted takes are stitched automatically. If anything cuts the recording short, NexCam finds those chunks the next time you open the app and joins them back into a single seamless file.

Recovery is the first thing you see. When you relaunch after an interruption, a recovery sheet appears before anything else. You choose to resume, keep what you have, or discard. Your footage is never silently lost, and never silently kept against your wishes.

what can interrupt a take

A phone call, another app grabbing audio, Low Power Mode kicking in, a hard crash, or a battery that gives out mid-sentence. NexCam treats all of them the same way: your footage is already on disk, and recovery is waiting when you come back.

Built for the way creators actually shoot

This matters most when the stakes are highest. A long-form lecture you do not want to re-record. A one-take story that landed exactly right. A client piece on a tight turnaround. Knowing the take is safe on disk the second you film it changes how it feels to be on camera. You stop bracing for disaster and start performing.

  • No re-shooting a perfect three-minute read because of a notification.
  • No losing a long lecture to a battery warning at minute twelve.
  • No discovering after the fact that the file was never saved.

Recovery questions

The app crashed mid-recording. Did I lose my take?

Almost certainly not. NexCam writes video in short chunks and stitches them on launch. A recovery sheet should appear offering to restore the interrupted take. If it does not, email support@nexcam.app and we will help you retrieve the chunks.

Does pause and resume leave a visible jump?

It should not. Chunk boundaries are designed to be seamless. If you ever see a jump, send a sample export through Report a Problem in Settings and we will investigate.

Why did recording stop on its own?

Most often this is iOS reclaiming the microphone, usually a phone call, another app starting audio capture, or Low Power Mode. Disable Low Power Mode in Settings and try again. Whatever you had filmed is still safe.
